The exhibition space on the first floor is dedicated to the development of Schumacher’s artistic concept, from his early works in the thirties to works of his late period in the nineties. The entrance gives a first overview of his entire oeuvre and provides a glimpse of all of Schumacher’s techniques. Following the exhibition circuit, works on paper are highlighted: one room is dedicated to Schumacher’s travels to North Africa and Mesopotamia. The following space shows gouaches, large-sized works on paper, a medium that Schumacher expanded upon during his entire lifetime. The next section portrays Schumacher’s graphics and his book projects. The daylight area introduces ceramics and porcelain.
